Microsoft Is All Set To Kill Skype For Windows Phone 7

Windows Phone users who still operate Windows 7 on their mobile phones are in for a shock since Microsoft has revealed plans of disabling Skype for all mobile phones that run on the aging operating system. This news was released on an official support page where Microsoft posted the question, “Is Skype for Windows Phone 7 being discontinued?" themselves and replied with an affirmative.

This means that the users having Windows Phone 7 operating system will not be able to download Skype on their Windows phone device, as informed by Microsoft itself. Moreover, people who already have the Skype app installed in their computer will no longer be able to login to their account, let alone make calls using the App. Those testing Omni Tech Support can do so by contacting the service in order to know more features that are still available in Windows Phone 7.

Back in January 2012, Microsoft had disappointed its Windows Phone 7 users by announcing that the existing users will not be able to download or install the upcoming operating system, Windows Phone 8 because of hardware incompatibility. The latest Windows Phone 8 operating system has hardware requirements that far exceed the mobile technology that ran in Windows Phone 7. The Standard two-year contract with its users dictates that the user will be able to make use of the operating system for two more years before migrating to a more advanced OS. This means, in 2014, anyone using Windows Phone 7 will not be able to make the best of what the device has to offer.

The new features for users testing Skype have enhanced quality, improved security as well as better reliability at a shorter band-width. However, this version of Skype will only be available for the latest Windows Phone 8 users, while Windows phone 7 users will have to do without the Skype app itself. Skype is presently available in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 as well as other rival platforms, with the sole exception being Windows Phone 7.

This has raised several issues in the process. Several users are paid Skype users with the provision of testing Skype services from their Windows Phone 7 powered mobile device alone. One Skype is disabled, the person will have to cancel their subscription in order to avoid further bills. Several such questions have been detailed in support articles provided by Microsoft themselves.

If you are intent on testing Omni Tech Support, you can contact them and enquire into ways of re-enabling Skype on Windows Phone 7. Genuine OmniTech Support will decline to do so.

Updates To Fix Microsoft Windows 8.1 Installation Issues

Windows 8 did not do well in the market due to various reasons. Actually, it is considered a huge failure when we look at the market share Windows 8 holds.

Currently, Windows 7 is still reigning as the most popular operating system with more than 50% of the entire desktop OS market share. Windows 8, on the other hand, could not even manage to achieve half of that after two years of its release.

What went wrong with Windows 8

Windows 8 had too many issues. The interface is difficult to absorb and it is extremely confusing for many users. Even for users who are pretty much good at using Windows 7, Windows 8 may not be very comfortable to use. The learning curve is not steep as well. Apart from that, there are many Windows 7 features or desktop OS features that are absent in Windows 8.

Windows 8.1 was the software giant’s attempt to address some of the problems associated with Windows 8. Windows 8.1 did bring in some welcoming changes to make the new operating system more user-friendly; however, there were many installation issues in Windows 8.1 update, which overshadowed its worth.

Many people were unable to install the recent Windows 8.1 update and so, the software giant introduced two Microsoft fix it tools to fix the issues. The company came to know about the problem when many users reported the Error 0x800f081f on the Microsoft forum. This error came up when they were trying to install the Windows 8.1 update. The world’s leading software maker has identified the problem and released a patch or two for this specific problem. Some other users have informed that they were not able to uninstall IIS after installing the update in Windows 8.1 though.

However, many Windows 8.1 users who reported the issue said that their install problems have not been resolved with the Microsoft fix it tool either. Since the patches have not resolved the problems, experts found a useful workaround to resolve it. Here are the instructions for the same.
  • First, you need to run cmd on your computer with administrator rights. To do that, search CMD from the Start Screen, right-click on the result under All Applications, and click on Run As Administrator option.
  • Type dism /online /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB2919355~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.14 in the command window.
  • After that, enter dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup.
These commands will fix your installation issues easily. After following the above steps, try installing the update once again, and complete the process following the instructions.

There are many third party tech support teams, which offer free tech support for various issues in Windows 7, such as checking the registry, testing the hardware for issues, dealing with virus infection, etc. You can also seek for help and advice on the internet, or search various sources in a bid for the best answer for your Windows 7 issues.

Steps To Make Outlook Emails Load Faster

Some of these include a calendar, journals as well as task manager options. These allow the users to remember the important dates as well as schedule the appointments in their professional life. Hence, Outlook is considered to be an essential application for business professionals.

Along with being an excellent email application, Microsoft Outlook also serves to be an advanced personal information manager for the users. Outlook stores the personal information of the users in specific folders known as personal storage tables or .PST files. Similarly, the contact information of the users is stored in Outlook address book. Although this application works as a charm most of the times, sometimes certain issues do pop up in Outlook especially while sending an email in Outlook. In certain cases, the emails may take a lot of time to load up.

In such cases, you should first close down all the other programs running in your computer. For this, you can press CTRL + ALT + DEL keys in your keyboard simultaneously followed by the Processes tab. Now, you need to delete all other unwanted processes except for Outlook.exe. This will make your computer to run Outlook faster.

Before sending an email in Outlook, you should also try archiving and deleting old emails. This is because usually most of us simply keep a lot of unwanted emails in our inbox that consume a lot of space. For this, you should wait until Outlook has fully loaded and then you can check your inbox. Now, go through all the unwanted emails and delete them one by one. According to the Outlook tech support team, the Outlook users should first load up the Junk Emails folder and then delete the emails.

Deleting such unwanted emails can definitely speed up your Outlook application. Along with this, you can also use registry cleaners to speed up Outlook. The benefit of using such registry cleaners is that these have the advanced options to scan the entire settings as well as program files in your computer and also detect the errors.

So, next time you face issues while sending an email in Outlook, you can use these methods instead of calling up and seeking assistance from the Outlook tech support team.

Internet Explorer Gets A Temporary Fix It For Its Vulnerability

Microsoft recently discovered technical issues with some versions of the Internet Explorer browser, which can even leave the computer to a major risk. However, after several days of finding the issue, Microsoft has only developed a temporary solution for the same. You can find the update on the Microsoft support page noted as KB2757760.

The issue that is found allows a malware to bypass the security procedure through Flash program, and affect the computer operating system. In another article released, Microsoft stated that the KB2757760 update is a simple fix for the same, and is easier to apply. The update adds the ability to protect the computer system almost instantly, without ceasing the browsing functions, and does not even require a reboot.

Even though the Microsoft Fix It tool such as 50939 and 50938 help in protecting the system from security issues, it is important to install the upcoming security update through the Windows Update Center. Regular updates from Microsoft have the ability to find out the issues in a Windows computer automatically, and fix them before any further harm is done.

However, the fix it tool is in its trial stage and has the ability to execute solutions for over 300 common problems. While you run the update, you will find a number of things to test like system performance, internet connection, and quality of display. Every time you run a fix it tool, an automatic troubleshooter opens, which takes about a minute to complete the task.

Many users have also been using the online version of Microsoft fix it tool, and has been a trend since 2008. This update though, which is available offline, will be a boon to deal with network related issues. Rather than looking for a specific problem online, it becomes much easier when we can fix the issues offline.

The Microsoft fix it tool focuses mainly on Windows XP and Windows Vista, as Windows 7 operating system already have an in-built fix it solution. Windows 7 users can find the Find And Fix Problems tool under Security Systems section in the Control Panel. The software is working well with all the operating systems, with the downloadable version more manageable.

Microsoft To Make Windows Update Mandatory

Latest reports that Microsoft is taking away the security update privileges of Windows 7 users who didn’t install the April update has turned out to be a shock for many. The April update codenamed MS14-018 is believed to improve the security features of Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 operating system.

However, it was also reported that only users with consumer or business versions of Windows 7 are affected by the update stoppage. If users are to continue receiving security updates and patch fixes from Microsoft, they are supposed to download the missed update. Microsoft’s new decision mandates that all valid users install every update released through Windows Update if at all they want to avail any particular update in future.

April update features

According to sources privy to Microsoft, the April update MS14-018 released via Windows Update service did not add any security patches to the operating system but the Internet Explorer 11 web browser. Users who failed to install this update faced problems when they tried to download the June update. Unlike the April update, the June update contains major security fixes and patches. Microsoft had recently made a similar mandate for Windows 8 users too. Users who didn’t upgrade to Windows 8 updates were blocked from receiving future updates.

Is Windows Update mandatory?

Microsoft encourages all licensed Windows users to download and install latest security updates and patch fixes from its Windows Update service. However, the service is mainly utilized by businesses. Individual users with limited internet packages avoid regular Windows update as it consumes a large amount of data. But, now Microsoft wants every user to update their operating system on a regular basis. If they skip any update, they will be disqualified from receiving any future updates.

Microsoft offers grace period for users to download April Update

Meanwhile, in its recent blog post, Microsoft said that it would allow Windows 7 users who missed the April update to download the update from Microsoft support site. The update will be made available for a limited grace period. During this period, users are required to download the update and install it. Microsoft warns saying that the April update is mandatory if users have to upgrade to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 in future.

Microsoft’s decision to make Windows Update mandatory for all users has both advantages and disadvantages. It will certainly improve the security features but individual users with limited data plans will lose a large chuck of their data on Windows update.

Windows 7 Surpasses 50 Percent Mark In The OS Market

Microsoft, after the release of Windows 8, expected a big boost in terms of revenue from the operating system. However, due to various drawbacks of the operating system and the negative reviews, it could not do well in the market. Microsoft had to release an update or a new operating system for making changes to Windows 8. The software giant decided to release a new operating system with the name Windows 8.1, hoping to make things better. However, a recent study shows that Windows 8.1 too has not helped Microsoft generate a huge revenue. According to the study, Windows 8.1 runs only n 6.35 percent of PCs in the world.

When you take the case of Windows 8.1, the operating system had a market share of 5.88 percent the previous month. It is clear that this share has gone up. However, there have not been a big number of upgrades as expected by Microsoft. Another important figure to take a note of is with Windows XP. The support for this operating system ceased on April 8, 2014. However, there has not been a big drop in the number of Windows XP users as expected by all. The study shows that the number of Windows XP, which had a market share of 26.29 percent last month showed only a slight decrease and stood at 25.27 percent. This means that still a large number of people are working with this outdated operating system. When it comes to Mac OS X 10.9, it runs on 4.15 percent PCs while the free operating system Linux runs on 2.90 percent PCs.

So, which operating system is the winner? The answer is clear, Windows 7. According to Windows 7 help center, the operating system has even crossed the 50 percent mark this month and continues to stay on top of the charts. The market share for this operating system was 49.27 percent last month and the new increase shows that the operating system is still the favorite of a majority of users.

The mainstream support for Windows 7 operating system ends next year. According to Windows 7 help center, Microsoft is also stopping the sales of Windows 7 preinstalled PCs by October this year. All these measures point that Microsoft is getting ready to push Windows 8.1 further. Currently Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 make up 12.64 percent of operating systems in the world. Microsoft is hoping to bring up this figure gradually.

With the use of the tool, users can recover files like audio files, video files, images, documents etc. The tool will convert the data into PST format, which will help users to view the contents in the Outlook program. This tool has a simple user interface and is therefore easier to use.

Disabling Prefetch And Superfetch In Windows 8

Superfetch and Prefetch are technologies developed by Microsoft that enables you to have faster system responsiveness. By predicting which application a user is most likely to execute next, Windows loads the required files in advance. This enables faster and smoother system response.

  • Depending on the settings you require, type in the relevant value. Make sure you do not accidentally change the wrong setting because it can lead to serious errors.
This change in setting will be effective immediately. You do not need to restart Windows 8 for this setting to come into effect.

Windows XP Still In Use

The most successful operating system that Microsoft has ever released is Windows XP. Even 12 years after the release of this operating system, it still holds a significant share in the existing computer market. However, on April 8, 2014, Microsoft ended the support given to this versatile operating system. Many of the users are still looking for the reasons behind such a decision to end the support given to the Windows XP. From now on, Windows XP users will no longer receive any updates and this will finally results in decline of the efficiency of your Windows XP machine.

In the month of April, Windows XP nearly constituted about 17.16 percent of the desktop usage according to the survey conducted by StatCounter. The numbers were much less when compared to the previous years and back in March; it constituted 18.61 percent, which is far less than 22.75 percent that was reported a year ago. This survey was conducted by another firm called Netmarketshare, which found out that Windows XP desktop operating system usage was at 26.29 percent, which is quite less than the 38.31 percent, reported in the year April 2013.

Even though, both firms used different strategies for the survey, the numbers regarding the Windows XP usage is declining. This decrease in the numbers is actually because of the Microsoft’s decision to end the support for the Windows XP OS and most of the XP users are upgrading their systems to either Windows 8 or Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Rise of Windows 8

Microsoft’s decision to end the support to Windows XP has made a huge impact on the sales of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 OS and this is what the tech giant was aiming for. According to the reports given by StatCounter, both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 OS constituted 13.05 and 12.24 percent of market share respectively.  It is the new update of the Windows 8 operating system that boosted the sales last month. This itself gives the indication that, more people are upgrading their existing OS to the new OS and the people who cannot upgrade their PC’s are going for Windows 8 systems.

Now, with boost in sales of the newly released operating system, Microsoft needs to support those users by releasing more and more updates, which will make their systems more effective and useful. To know more regarding moving to Windows 8, contact the Windows support number. The Windows support number helpline will assist you in all matters related to the Windows 8 OS.

Windows 8 1 Fixes Some Of The Windows 8 Problems

The new Windows 8 OS was marketed as the new generation Microsoft operating system with a brand new UI. And, all the existing Windows users, especially those corporate customers, who are still using Windows XP, were urged to opt for the Windows 8 upgrade. However, most of the Windows users were not in a hurry.

Microsoft trying to reboot Windows 8 sales with the new update

Many Windows users took a wait-and-see approach to the new OS, even though Microsoft offered a discount offer for the new OS for the first few months. This offer was mainly aimed at the Windows 7 users, since they can easily opt for the Windows 8 upgrade without making any changes to hardware.

However, as it turned out, Microsoft attempts at making their Windows OS more touch-friendly ended up creating a half-desktop-half-tablet OS hybrid that was useless to enthusiasts of either form. The desktop users found that the Start Menu they were so familiar with in the old Windows editions has disappeared in the new OS.

The tablet users were not at all interested in Windows 8, when they can get the freeware OS Android from Google and hundreds of thousands of Android apps. But, Microsoft quickly took stock of the situation and decided to release an OS update to Windows 8 and thereby, rescue their new OS from its Vista-fate.

In fact, in many respects, Windows 8 is very similar to Windows Vista. Windows Vista was Microsoft’s previous attempt at a radical OS redesign, ignoring the needs of customers of the time. Now, Microsoft has repeated their mistake.

To be frank, Windows Vista like Windows 8 is a great OS, but there was no market for it at that time. Similarly, a hybrid OS with UI features for both desktop and tablet users might have worked a few years ago, when people were beginning to try the touch screen devices – not now, when they have already made the switch to fully fledged touch screen operating systems.

Maybe, Microsoft should stop trying to satisfy both the desktop and tablet users and design separate user-friendly operating systems. Many desktop users find using the new OS very difficult, as Windows 8 is designed mainly as a touch screen operating system with the ‘optional’ desktop mode.

Microsoft has to fix these problems. And, the Windows 8.1 OS update is a step in the right direction. Too little, too late? We’ll see.

Windows 8 is the new operating system released by Microsoft and contains many new features making it as one of the outstanding products that Microsoft has ever released. Microsoft Partners With New Hardware Manufactures For Windows Phone

Microsoft’s mobile operating system Windows Phone is struggling to make its presence felt in the smartphone market. Certainly, the software giant has to put great efforts to compete with the two existing smartphone giant OSs Android and iOS. Interestingly, Microsoft has come up with futuristic ideas in the last Mobile Word Congress. They have finally decided to extend partnership deals with other mobile manufactures like Lava (XOLO), ZTE, Lenovo, LG, Longcheer, Karbonn, Foxconn, JSR and Gionee. In the past, Microsoft had said that it would partner only with Nokia to bring out Windows Phone powered smartphones in the market. This decision had cost the company dearly, Windows Help experts said.

Extending partnership with multiple manufactures will take Windows Phone in emerging smartphone market
Microsoft seems to have no doubt about the success of Windows Phone after partnering with top mobile manufacturers. Experts at Microsoft believe that the initial failure Windows Phone experienced, was due to the limited number of devices in the market. There were only a few Windows Phone powered devices in the market. Moreover, customers had no options to choose among different brands as there were only Nokia powered devices. Microsoft has given due attention to this problem and has addressed it by introducing Windows Phone to top mobile manufactures. It is not yet clear whether Samsung, the top brand manufacturing Android powered smartphone devices, will partner with Microsoft in making Windows Phone powered devices.

The current statistics indicate that about 56 percent of the global market share for smartphones is held by 9 hardware companies (Lenovo, Lava (Xolo), LG, Foxconn, JSR, Gionee, ZTE, Karbonn and Longcheer). Apparently this has given Microsoft enough reason in partnering with these firms. We can certainly expect that Windows Phone powered smartphones will make a strong appeal to average users shortly.

Microsoft to partner with Qualcomm

Although Microsoft’s decision to partner with the above mentioned nine hardware companies, what has caught much attention in the tech world is the its decision to partner with Qualcomm. Techies have no doubt that the partnership with Qualcomm will play a crucial role in the future of Windows Phone devices. That Windows Phone can function on the latest Snapdragon 400 and 200 processors of the Qualcomm, is what makes it noteworthy.

The relaxed hardware requirements for Windows Phone and extensive Windows Help options are the two plus points that hardware manufactures see in preferring Windows Phone OS in the emerging market. Microsoft has also paid heed to users’ requests to introduce Dual Sim enabled smartphones.

Microsoft Pulls The Plug On Windows XP Support Service

Microsoft Corporation recently pulled the plug on the popular and beloved Windows XP. This is certainly not a surprise since the software giant has been planning to end the Microsoft support services for Windows XP for a long time now. On all previous occasions, they extended the support period when XP users started complaining.

The world’s largest software maker has been providing support for Windows XP for the past 12 years. But now, the time is up for XP; this way the software company, as well as its hardware and software partners, can now invest their resources toward supporting more recent technologies, and continue to provide great new experiences. But this entails that technical assistance for Windows XP is no longer existent; this also includes automatic updates that help protect your PC.

The software behemoth has officially ended Microsoft support services for Windows XP. This means that Microsoft will not update any more patches for system vulnerabilities detected within Windows XP. In this case, Windows XP users might be open to new cyber-security risks form hackers who are waiting to exploit this opportunity. It would be targeted more often than ever, and crucial information or data will be at risk.

Windows XP is probably the most successful operating system to have been developed by Microsoft Corporation. Even after the deadline, Windows XP still maintains around percent of the global market. This itself proves the dominance of the OS (Mind you, this is 12 years after its launch). A staggering total of 200 million users are using Windows XP in China alone, where about 70 percent of the country's computers are still running XP.

Officially, the Windows XP has retired, that is true and that cannot be changed. But this does not mean the classic operating system cannot run on personal computers; in fact nothing’s stopping it from functioning the same way. What Microsoft precisely meant was that the company will no longer provide patching services for Windows XP any more after April 8, 2014 and that date has long gone. This means that Windows XP can still run normally on computers, and Microsoft will just stop providing patches for the operating system's vulnerability, thus making using Windows XP risky.

The inevitable fact is that computers still running Windows XP may encounter hidden dangers, which includes Trojans, viruses, or attacks by hackers, if system vulnerabilities are not resolved on time.

Google To End The Support For Its Apps On Vista

As per the Microsoft’s product support policy, every operating system will receive mainstream support for a period of five years and extended support for a period of another five years, making the total support duration ten years. Windows XP is the only operating that received a longer period of support. XP is regarded as the most popular operating system from Microsoft and therefore it received extended support for more than the ten-year period.

What has been making news lately is the support period for Vista. Vista has reached its 7th year. As per the Microsoft’s product support policy, it will receive three more years of extended support. However, Microsoft has not released any updated versions of many of its popular apps like Office suite, IE and the like for Vista. While IE 11 is out already for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, IE 9 is the latest version that Vista users are able to use. Owing to Microsoft’s reluctance to release the latest versions of its default web browser, popular service providers like Google are also not willing to support their popular services. Recently, Google announced that it would not provide support for outdated versions for IE for Google Apps. In effect, it will be like withdrawing all Google based apps and services from Windows Vista operating system.

The users who visited the Microsoft support for Vista page were taken to the product support life cycle page for Vista.

Will changing the web browsers help?

Meanwhile, experts said that a change of the web browser would enable the Windows Vista users get the latest Google Apps. There is no better browser than Google Chrome to run Google Apps. Google has announced that it would offer support for Google Apps for XP and Vista through its Chrome web browser till April 2015.

Although Microsoft has not directly asked the Vista users to move to the latest operating systems, its reluctance to release updates for Vista compatible apps is a sign that it does not want users to stay on Vista. Soon Microsoft support for Vista would come to an end and the users would have to upgrade to Window 7 or Window 8.

Hope you found the information provided in this article useful. For more information, visit the Microsoft Vista website online.

Remove The Babylon Adware Toolbar From Your System

A toolbar adds many more functions and options to your web browser. However, you have to be careful when it comes to installing them. Always check whether you are installing a genuine toolbar or a malware application. A genuine toolbar can be very easily installed and removed from the system.

But, a malware toolbar cannot be easily removed from the browser. A good example is the Babylon browser toolbar. Babylon toolbar can be used for text translation and as a dictionary tool. However, it acts as an adware tool for the Babylon website. The homepage settings and your browser search engine options would be changed with some links to the official Babylon website.

How to remove Babylon toolbar from the system

It would not be easy to either remove the Babylon toolbar or change these browser settings back to its default settings. So, your browser would keep taking you to the Babylon website every now and then, interrupting the work you are doing online.

So, how to remove Babylon toolbar from your browser and change its settings back to normal? The Babylon toolbar removal is a rather complicated process, as the toolbar is designed particularly to make the un-installation process difficult. However, you would find a few articles posted in this site that would help you with the Babylon toolbar removal.

To remove an adware or malware toolbar completely from the system, you need to get rid of all its traces from the system. Any small file or registry entry remaining in the system might be enough for the adware toolbar to come back to the browser menu.

A smart idea would be to use a toolbar removal tool to get rid of the Babylon toolbar completely from the system. One of the best adware toolbar removal tools available online is the AdwCleaner from Xplode. This freeware application is designed to detect and remove any adware toolbars you have in your system.

Uninstall the Babylon toolbar add-in from the browser and the toolbar application from the system. Now change browser settings back to default and close the browser. Now run the AdwCleaner you have installed in your system. Press the Search button you see in the application.

It would detect the adware applications in the system as well as the changes these applications have made in the system settings. When the application displays these results, click on the Delete button to remove. That’s it. The Babylon toolbar is now gone for good.

New Xbox Video Online By Microsoft

With the launch of the new Xbox Video online, Microsoft has been able to expand its video streaming media service from Windows 8.1 PCs and Xbox One and has handed the responsibility onto the web. All of this got done way ahead of the release of the new Windows Phone. In the new site consumption of content bought earlier is supported and all you have to do is log into your account. You can buy the new media at the webstore, which can then be played back into your PC.

There are some drawbacks however in this new web version. Microsoft alleges that these complications could have a significant impact on the release of the smartphone.

Picture quality is one of the biggest issues in the service; “HD Quality playback is not currently supported on the Web and Windows Phone.” Microsoft have issued a warning saying that if you try to purchase a HD movie or TV show then, “Your purchase will play in SD quality. Xbox Video on Windows 8.1 and Xbox One supports HD quality playback.”

The lack of full HD resolution support in the service is very unfortunate considering that this feature has not yet been introduced in the Windows Phone so far. Only the Nokia Lumia 1520 with its 6-inch panel posses 1920 x 1080 display making it perfect for playing media in highr solution and clarity.

Irrespective of this, it is sad that Microsoft did not capitalize on working with a standard definition. Only plus point is that bandwidth consumption will remain low. In either case Microsoft has lost the battle a bit too quickly considering that purchases of both iTunes on iOS and Google Play on Android, with full HD support while Xbox Video does not even have options to switch between different quality levels.

However, Microsoft still has a big window of opportunity to make changes. As the company still says “currently supported” about its SD limitation there is still hope for improvement. Broader access to content on both Xbox One or Windows 8.1 are also places for improvement. To know more you can check up on the Microsoft support page. You could also post your queries on the Microsoft support page about the new Xbox Video online service. Those looking to access these streams must have a Silverlight plug-in on their browsers. Keep checking for more news.

The issue started at 10 AM ET and affected the Outlook.com, the People address book of Outlook mail service, and the cloud storage service of Microsoft that is referred to as SkyDrive. The issues related to SkyDrive were resolved after four hours and Microsoft now says that, after seven hours of these Outlook problems, they have found a solution to the Outlook.com problem.

The Microsoft engineering team has brought most of the services back online as per a recent status message. The rest of the services that have issues with them are being gradually brought up. Microsoft warns the Outlook users that the mobile access to the Outlook.com still has some issues. The mobile users will be still having problems synchronizing. This recent outage seems to be widespread and sporadic among the Outlook.com users. Some of the users had no issues, but later ran into Outlook problems and outages at the later stage of the Outage.

This problem comes just after Microsoft boasted about the 400 million users of the service, and just six months after Outlook.com suffered from sixteen hours long issues, which was caused by a firmware upgrade at the datacenter of Microsoft. It is not yet clear if the overheating of the datacenters is involved in this latest outage. Many of the technical websites are trying to reach out to Microsoft to know and confirm the root cause of the issue. Microsoft had blamed this outage as an unexplained incident. They said that only a smaller number of the users were affected by the issue, but they did not provide further details on the outage.

Even though only small portions of the users were affected, the outage caused inconvenience to millions of users. Microsoft had transferred all the users of its other web emails, including the hotmail.com and msn.com to Outlook, as part of their attempt to outshine Yahoo mail and Gmail from Google. Microsoft does not have the details on the cause of the outage, but a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed to The Verge that they have restored web access to all users. He also added that the Microsoft engineering team is working to restore full mobile access to the users as quickly as possible. If you wish to know more on this outage, you can contact our tech support team.

Know The Features Of The Office Configuration Analyzer Tool

Off late, several users have been complaining about the issues faced in the Microsoft Office programs. According to the Microsoft tech support, the users were experiencing issues with almost all the applications of the Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc. It’s here that the OffCAT or Office Configuration Analyzer Tool comes into the picture. This advanced application provides a detailed report of the installed Office programs of the users.

The best known features of the OffCAT are that it can scan through all the versions of Office i.e. from 2007 to 2013. By scanning through these, it can give a detailed report about the missing updates, tricky add-ins and also some the common system problems that can lead to issues in Microsoft Office. As stated by the Microsoft technical support, many users called in to say that the OffCAT had detected issues in the Office suite of applications installed in their system. Some of the commonly found issues were the occurrence of hyperlinks and registry entries in Microsoft Outlook. These were found to slow down the email application and in some cases even caused the program to crash.

Another advantage of using this Office Configuration Analyzer Tool to check the Outlook issues is that it contains links to Microsoft’s support articles. This means that if you have encountered an issue in any of the Office application installed in your computer, you can have OffCAT scan it. Once scanned, you would be informed about the existing issue and would be provided with links, listed in the report.

These links would redirect you to a public-facing article, which is usually a Microsoft Knowledge Base article, wherein you would get assistance regarding the problem. Hence, it would be relatively easier for you to get information about the possible fixes. This would also save you from contacting the Microsoft tech support time and again to seek assistance on fixing your problem. Now, if you are a Helpdesk professional, you can also save the report to a file to view the same in the Office Configuration Analyzer Tool on another client on which the tool is installed. This would help you to fix the issue easily.

This means that whether you are a technical professional or an ordinary Windows user, the OffCAT would be extremely handy for you. To know more about this amazing Office repair tool, please contact our technical support team.

Which Is The Better Choice- OS X Mavericks Or Windows 8.1?

Tech companies always try to revolutionize and expand their product range so that their products remain as the top sellers. Companies such as Apple and Microsoft are in the race to make their operating systems the preferred choice among users. These companies often provide updates, introduce new features to their operating systems, and even introduce newer versions of their operating systems.

OS X Mavericks and Windows 8.1

Apple launched OS X Mavericks on October 22 and Microsoft launched Windows 8.1 on October 21. What users should thoroughly know is that the OS X Mavericks is a brand new release while Windows 8.1 is only an update to the slow seller Windows 8. Windows 8.1 is a completely free update for Windows 8 users. However, users running other Windows versions require spending money to avail Windows 8.1. On the other hand, OS X Mavericks is free for download.

The know how’s of Windows 8.1 and OS X Mavericks

The release of Windows 8.1 was to straighten out the complaints and suggestions concerning Windows 8 OS. Windows 8.1 incorporated the return of the Start button and many several other features that made Windows 8.1 a better package than Windows 8. OS X Mavericks also boasted many changes and enhancements like iCloud Keychain, Notifications and so on. It is to be noted that both the OSs are not head turners and cannot be classified as a huge leap forward.

The advantage for OS X Mavericks

However, the advantage OS X Mavericks has is that, Windows 8 imparts a very bad reputation among users and reviewers and OS X Mavericks will heavily benefit from it. However, OS X Mavericks has seen many issues concerning its download and few others.

Who will be the winner?

With OS X Mavericks and Windows 8.1 hitting stores around the same time, it might be a difficult competition and to judge the winner may be quite difficult. Going by the trend, Microsoft hopes Windows 8.1 sells like Windows XP and thus regains the triumphant position in the operating system market share. At the same time, Apple aims to benefit from the loss of Windows 8 and thus lead to the success of OS X Mavericks.

Downloading Windows 8 is very easy and it can be performed with ease. Downloading Windows 8 and installing it may consume some time and users will have to wait patiently until the entire process is complete. However, the installation and use of OS X Mavericks is rather complicated.

Fixing Issues With Outlook Add-Ons

Microsoft Outlook is much used as an email client by many computer users around the world. Installing third party add-ons to the program can lead to a disproportionately high number of connection issues in it. If you think that third party add-ons are causing Outlook problems, you can follow the steps discussed in this article to fix the issues with the third party add-ons. The easiest way to do this is to start the Outlook program in Safe mode. When the Outlook program is started in Safe mode, all the add-ons will be disabled.

To do this, you will have to shut the Outlook program completely by selecting File-Exit and then pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete to reach Task Manager. If you find that running the Outlook program in Safe mode fixes the connection issues that you were having, the next step to be done is to restart the Outlook program normally and then disable or remove the installed add-ins. There are mainly two areas where you need to check - Exchange Client Extensions and COM+ Add-ins.

For Outlook 2010

Open the Outlook program and go to File – Options – Add-ins. Click on the Go button that is located at the bottom part of the window.

For Outlook 2007

In the Outlook window, go to Tools– Trust Center – Add-ins. Select COM Add-ins and then click on the Go button.

For Outlook 2003

In Outlook, select Tools –Options, then click on Other tab and click on the Advanced Options button. Click on the button COM Add-Ins that is located at the bottom of the screen.

You will reach a window that shows you the list of Add-ons installed in the program. You can start by disabling everything except Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging, Microsoft Outlook Mobile Service, Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server Colleague Import Add-in and Microsoft VBA for Outlook Add-in. You may then click on the OK button.

After that,

In Outlook 2010, you do not have to do any steps.

In Outlook 2007, go to Tools– Trust Center – Add-ins, choose Exchange Client Extensions and then click on the Go button.

In Outlook 2003, select Tools –Options, click on Other tab and then Advanced Options button. Then click on Add-In Manager.

Adding Third Party Email Service Accounts In Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook is designed to act as the email client for any email service, even the third party ones set up in your organisation. The setup is very easy if you are using the email service from well known webmail service providers like Gmail and Yahoo. However, in the case of the email network setup in the organisation, you would have to use the manual setup option in Outlook.

How to setup email in Outlook manually

For the popular email services like Gmail, Yahoo, etc the Outlook email setup wizard can establish connection with the online mail server and get the details. This would be done using the automatic email setup function in Outlook, which would require you give just the account address, user name, password, etc for your account.

Most organisations have their own email network for security reasons. For setting up these accounts in MS Outlook, you need to use the manual account setup option and enter the details for the incoming and outgoing addresses and other details manually.

For example, if you are a student or faculty member at the University of Florida, you are eligible to create an email account in the University’s GatorLink email service. The details about how to setup email in Outlook for the GatorLink email service, would be mentioned at the GatorLink home page online.

After gathering the necessary information for setting up the GatorLink account, open your Outlook mail client. Go to the Tools menu and click on the Account Settings option. There under the Email tab, click New. This would launch the email setup wizard in Outlook. Select the Manually configure the server settings option, and click Next.

Now, select Internet Email as the type of service for which you are adding the account and click Next. Now, you would a lot of text fields for entering the information for setting up the account. Type in your username, password, email address, etc as well as the information you obtained from the GatorLink webpage for the incoming and outgoing server addresses, the port numbers, the security and encryption settings, etc. Only if you enter these details correctly would the Outlook client be able to establish a connection with the GatorLink mail server.

The steps are the same for setting up any other third party email service accounts in MS Outlook. Just make sure that you have all the information regarding the server settings correctly, before you start the email setup.

Solving Outlook 2007 Print Issues After Installing Kb2509470

The most popular email client employed by millions of people worldwide is Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft Outlook is embedded with many features, making it one of the most preferred application. However, like other apps, Microsoft Outlook also faces different Outlook problems while working with it. Mostly, you will see an error message called Microsoft Outlook cannot start when you try to work with Outlook. Moreover, the users also face print issues with Outlook 2007.

To solve the print issues, the tech giant Microsoft released a hotfix known as KB2512788. By downloading and installing this hotfix manually, it is possible to solve the print issues with Outlook very easily. A similar solution for this is also being offered through the updates coming through Microsoft Update.

In most cases, after installing the hotfix named KB2509470, the users experienced printing issues and also faced problems while previewing messages. The users also received error message like ‘There is a problem with the selected printer’, ‘You might need to reinstall this printer’, ‘Try again, or use a different printer’ or ‘You cannot start Outlook’. However, for plain text messages, this error is preceded by an error labeled ‘Outlook has encountered a problem’. You will not be able to undo this action once it is completed. Do you want to continue? When this error message comes, Outlook will start taking more CPU than normal.

Solving tip 1
  • If Outlook is open, close it.
  • Find OutlPrn and provide a new name called .old. Now the current print settings will be reset.
  • For Windows XP users it will be, C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\ and for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users, it will be,
  • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
  • Once completed, restart your Microsoft Outlook application once again and now you will see no issue with printing.
However, there is a problem associated with this, you can take a print or a preview for one picture only. To print next, you need to repeat the whole process again. Restarting Outlook is sufficient in most cases and as long as you do not use the Print Preview function, you can print.

Solving tip 2

Saving the file as a txt file or an htm file is another solution available for solving this issue. After saving the file in any one of this format, you can easily print. Outlook Support team is continuously working on this problem to get a fixed solution.

Windows Update Cleanup Utility Add-On Released For Windows 7 SP1

Microsoft has released several operating systems for computer users and the most popular operating system that it ever released is Windows 7. The main reason for its popularity is because of the user-friendly features and functions offered by the Window 7 to the users. Even today, majority of the computer market share is dominated by Windows 7.

However, with years of using the Windows 7 operating system, you may experience some problems where you will find that the hard disk space of your Windows 7 system will slowly disappear and you will be in a position where you will not have any idea about the reasons for it. Microsoft is releasing various updates for all its software and applications. Moreover, while you update, the replaced files will be backed up in a separate back up directory. This will help you to move back to the old setting when needed.

Installing the needed updates released by Microsoft for the Microsoft applications will help to run your machine with full efficiency and there will be no problems associated with low disk space. Previously, computer users used to delete old update directories to free up the disk space. However, this is not the best way to do it since the deletion of some important files and folders will result in rollback issues or update uninstallation.

Recently, a new add-on for Windows 7 computers running SP1 has been released by Microsoft and installing this add-on will help you to install the standard Windows 7 Disk Cleanup wizard maintenance utility. This utility when installed in your Windows 7 computer will help to use another option called Windows Update Clean Up.

However, there are a couple of things that you should take care of,
  • It is not possible to roll back to a superseded update, once you do the clean up.
  • To use the option called Windows Update Cleanup, Administrator permission is necessary.
From the initial Disk Cleanup Screen, you have to select the option called Clean Up System Files to make the new choice that is shown in the delete file list.

Is it effective?

Many users who have installed this add-on are satisfied and are able to save much free space. Working of large applications requires enough free disk space and the use of this add-on will help you save considerable amount of disk space in your Windows 7 computer. Both x86 and x64 OS versions can download this utility. To know more about it, contact the Windows 7 help center. Windows 7 help team will be available 24*7 to clear all your doubts.
